Half Marathon #99
Race Name: The Giant Race Half Marathon
Location: San Francisco, CA
Anyone who knows me knows I'm a planner...I always plan things way too early and I always stage my race gear the night before a race. Last Saturday was no exception...including charging my GoPro and its add-on battery...
Race morning, I'm in my corral...my GoPro doesn't turn on...I try over and over, take the batteries out, put them in....nothing! My batteries are DRAINED!!!! The only thing I can think of is while putting the camera back in it's shell the WiFi button was accidentally pressed, turning on the WiFi and draining the batteries overnight! So I found myself in beautiful San Francisco holding a GoPro on a handheld stick (GoScope Clutch), ready to run & unable to take any pictures! I simply need to carry the camera the entire distance... :-(
So no GoPro pictures in this blog :-(
This was my the third consecutive year running this half marathon. I don't follow sports at all...so why did I run this race 3 times? In 2013 it was one of my 36 half marathons. In 2014 I ran it to earn the San Francisco Originals Run Series Challenge Medal. Now in 2015 I ran it as part of my attempt to run 100 half marathons in less than 3 years! Is this the last time? We'll see :-)
Overall cool overcast weather! A few hills to conquer on the course, but nothing too crazy! Although I'm not a baseball fan there is something cool about finishing inside the AT&T stadium! This is a well organized event that gives runners a participant shirt, a bobble head, 1 beer ticket, post-race snacks & a nice finisher's medal!
