These puppy pics are the first ones in this blog! I had to stop and take a selfie!! Adorable!!! Right? Ok...onward with the blog...
This was my second time running this race - ran it back in 2013. With an 8:00am start time...the sun was already shining bright! I hope the race organizers consider changing the start time to 7:00am next year.
The race starts on the boardwalk in Downtown Ventura and takes you on a "Shoreline" run! I was burning up out there and yet I was grateful to be running by the ocean! Pacers were invited to offer runners with time goals support!
A lot of the course offers an ocean view! Fair warning, the course is not closed off to the general public - we share the course with people riding bikes, runners doing their own run and people walking around. Not a deal breaker for me but it does create a bit of challenge on the narrow parts. A fair amount of incline provided a challenge, but there were plenty of hydration stations to keep everyone happy! I didn't see any gels being offered to runners - I carried my own.
These are my favorite pics from the race!
It ain't too shabby! All runners (5K, 10K & 13.1) received the same medal.
Post race snacks/meal:
Two thumbs up for this tasty addition to the race! A taco tent serving 2 tacos to every runner (chicken or beef) along with salsa, onions and cilantro! Made to order! 1 ice cold beer for every runner! This was a great treat to enjoy right after the race! Yum!
This was a bargain for me! I registered on January 15th, 2015 - Total registration cost was $40.11
What did that get me? The following:
- Participant Shirt
- Chip Timed Race
- Non-generic race bib
- Water Bottle
- Shopper Bag
- Finisher Medal
- 2 Tacos & 1 Beer
You can't beat that price! This is a race that I will be happy to sign up for when my calendar allows! Overall a great experience!
