Half Marathon #105
Race Name: Rock 'n' Roll Vancouver Half Marathon
Location: Vancouver, B.C., Canada
Vancouver was not originally one of my 10 Rock 'n' Roll races scheduled in 2015. I was planning on running the Rock 'n' Roll Half in Los Angeles. After completing Portland and Seattle, the Rock 'n' Roll race team sent me an email stating I would earn the World Rocker and Cascadia medals by running Vancouver! Those of you that follow my journey have heard me say before, it is hard for me to travel at the end of the month because of my job. So I found myself flying from LAX to Vancouver Saturday evening & returning Sunday evening...all for 2 bonus medals.
My first Vancouver visit was back in 2013 for SeaWheeze. I have been to many cities, but Vancouver has always been special to me. It is hard to describe, but I feel safe and at home in Vancouver. I somehow connect with the city. I don't understand why exactly, I just know the city is very special to me. After landing on Saturday night, I took the train into the downtown area and as soon as I started walking around I felt happy.
My first stop was the mothership, aka the main lululemon store on Robson Street. I had 30 minutes to shop before the store closed. After my shopping fix I walked less than a block to eat at Cafe Crepe - scrambled eggs, bacon and a cinnamon sugar crepe for dinner? Yes please! :-)
!!!!EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!!! <-- my alarm waking me up Sunday morning...I'm up, I shower, get ready and I'm walking to the start line....
We had perfect cool running weather! Overall the run was easy because I was happy to run in Vancouver. Did I mention Vancouver makes me happy? :)
The pictures will show you my 13.1 journey...
I have 2 more Rock 'n' Roll races this year, Las Vegas and San Antonio. That gold record medal must be mine! :-)
