Half Marathon #104
Race Name: Rock 'n' Roll Denver Half Marathon
Location: Denver, CO
Another whirlwind weekend as I continue aiming for 10 Rock 'n' Roll races this year...I need the Gold Record Heavy Medal :-)
My work life continues to be what takes most of my time so I changed my Saturday morning flight to the evening which put me in Denver after 9pm....alarm is set for 5am...time for rest!
Do you ever wake up, turn your alarm off and go back to sleep? I did this morning! Luckily I woke up again at 5:30am....a bit confused about where I was and why I was there (insert emoji of monkey covering eyes here). :-) No worries! I got ready and headed out for the race!
The race starts at Civic Center Park and takes you on a tour of downtown and a beautiful park with water views. Immediately after the race started I was thirsty!!! Thanks dry air and elevation!!! I hydrated at every water station and was feeling ok until mile 11...my legs felt heavy...thanks again elevation!
Overall a great event with beautiful weather and positive energy. I hope to run in this city again with time to actually explore the city. I'm only here for less than 24 hours...that means 1 lululemon shopping trip, food and back to the airport I go!
I am scheduled to run Rock 'n' Roll Vancouver Canada next weekend...everything is booked....but if for some reason work forces me to miss my flight I will end up running Rock 'n' Roll Los Angeles. Why Vancouver? 2 additional bonus medals!!! We shall see what my future holds...for now, enjoy these pictures ;-)
